Hadith 1:

Abu Said, the feed slave of Abi Usayyad said; “When the Egyptians entered upon Usman and struck him on his hand, the blood fell on the words;  ‘Allah will suffice thee as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing’ (2:137). He spread his hand and said; ‘Verily this was the first hand to write Mufassal surahs.’

Status: According to Dr. Waidh there are two problem with its chain

Hadith 2:


Zaid bin Thabit narrated; The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘They [the Jews] come to me with their books and I do not like that they should read. Can you (O Zaid) learn [to read] the Hebrew writing?’ or he said, ‘Syriac?’. I said, ‘Yes!’ and I learnt it in seventeen days.


Hadith 3:

Narrated Zaid; The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Do you know Syriac [or Hebrew]? I am brought with books in it.’ I said, ‘No!’. He said, ‘Learn it!’ So I learnt it in thirteen days.

Status: Classified as Sahih by Hakim in Mustadrak H. 5809
